day in nyc

i i was treated to a day in the city with one of my friends as a birthday gift and one of the places we went to was museum of sex. its 3 galleries of very interesting information on sex through video holo grams pictures sound sculptures etc...

One thing that caught my attention was the exhibit on animals saying how same sex relationships in many species is common and not maladaptive. It further talked about how these studies were recently and rarely published. It blew my mind because i personlly never knew that along with couple people i ve spoken too about it. It brings up the question about nature vs. nurture in regards to this new topic and how it applies to humans especially if their views been formed w/o knwoing all information. I must say though if i only had 20 minutes to get out da city and can only bring one ting it would be a taxi cab driver. i dont understand none of dat west lower east side stuff but they speak it like its a new language.

bornday

turning 25 looking back to analyze what im doin different now then last year. exercising my mind and treatin it more like a muscle instead of just fat and protein. Ive been trying to get into good habits in terms of what i take in my body & mind. I stopped drinking from jan. 1 and made it to about april 22nd when i was reminded of one of the reasons i stopped. I went from 260 to 238 which was my goal before my 25th. I eat red meat sparingly and have replaced it with chicken and fish. I must admit i have a lot more energy in comparison and havent been sick since around thanksgiving knock on wood. I heard that expression was coined because it is said that if u knock on wood the devil wont hear ur unwise comments. But yea keeping this routine will def. help with my brains "muscle memory" to a point where it hopefully looks as if it was innate... .......................
Hopefully this blog will help me document my growth. I love reminicing and comparing because i think history is so important and shapes wat we do present day. When we have a sense of who we are its almost like we are able too look back into our future. I remember me and my best Dan started looking into the sankofa bird and what it stands for years ago. Its a symbol originated in Ghana. i think there are two versions. The symbol im referring to is a pic of a bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back. It symbolizes "one taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge".(encyclopidia britannica book)
